Hertog Jan: out of love for beer. More and more beer lovers are discovering the beers of Hertog Jan. With the current focus for beer, especially the specialty beers, the quality of Hertog Jan is widely appreciated. More and more people find their way to the brewery in Arcen, and so we did!
On Friday morning, September 20th, we traveled together with 30 Kweek’ers and Flow’ers to the countryside of Limburg to visit the brewery of Hertog Jan. The company visit started with a presentation by senior brand manager Rianne, a profession that many CIS student envy. Rianne told all the ins and outs about the emergence of Hertog Jan, the beer portfolio and marketing strategies, including the 3B’s: beer, brewers, and brewery! She also proudly told about the Grand Prestige, the greatest crown jewel of the portfolio of Hertog Jan, which was elected best beer in the world during the World Beer Awards.
After the interesting presentation, the cosiness of Limburg increased. It was time for a guided tour through the authentic brewery. The tour was guided by Thijs, a purebred Limburger and proud brewer at Hertog Jan. From authentic copper brewing kettle to an atmospheric cellar packed with bottles of Grand Prestige from various volumes. We experienced the complete brewing process during the tour. We smelled the hop, saw the bottle process and tasted different kind of beers! The tour ended in the Hertog Jan store, aka the beer heaven!
